In Defense of Omega 3313 Movement: Amazing Accuracy

Date: May 08, 2010,14:05 PM -  (view entire thread)

I recently purchased the Co-axial Enamel Speedmaster.  I also own a Speedy from 1972, my very first watch which is very dear to me.

I was very reluctant to purchase this watch.  I had read all the negative press about this movement.  I read what the late, great Mr. Maddox had to say about the movement.

I purchased the Enamel on March 9, 2010. It has been extremely accurate.  It has only lost approximately 3-4 seconds in the 2 months that I have enjoyed wearing it.  In my humble opinion, that shows amazing accuracy.

Last year, I was fortunate enough to purchase a Lange Datograph.  While the finish and craftsmanship cannot compare between the 2 watches.  The Omega kicks the Datograph's rear end in timekeeping.  The Dato does not even come close.  After getting the Dato regulated that may change, but I rather doubt it.

Of course Purists here can debate whether the Enamel should be called a Speedmaster, etc.,  I am not addressing that issue here.  Just the accuracy.

People have been referring to the initial problems that this movement has had.  I am glad that Omega has resolved them.  And I wonder how many people have given their opinion based upon first hand experience as opposed to referring to out dated reviews of the movement.

Sincerely - Mark
