very good research, bill. followed all the bits...

and pieces of that research over the years. have to buy the book very soon ! yeah, the railmaster prototypes are very interesting. omega experimented with different dial fonts, as you see in your article. i had at least 3 different dial fonts from the first series and even the second series had unusual dial variants; like the railmaster for the pakistani airforce. factory confirmed. i bought a white railmaster as well. different dial font and the black hands from the mil 1953. lume turned brown and is still original in the hands. the case is a plain 2777 and has fixed bars. the side profile is not the same as the mil 1953 ( or your white dial railmaster), but closer to the final railmaster case. movement production late 1953; same caliber without swan neck. we restored the case and left the other parts untouched. that case will be another variant in the railmaster history. kind regards from australia. achim

The watch that almost got away !

 By: Bill Sohne : January 11th, 2008-19:36
Hello everyone.... Back in 1999 I came across a odd looking Omega on ebay. I was very interested in buying the watch. I placed what I thought was a high bid for the watch. The auction did not make its reserve price. I then proceeded to contact the seller....

Truly editors choice!!!

I am very happy to read that you have the watch. It is virtually "one of a kind" so keep it well. PS: To have your name in that book is also fantastic! Ruckdee
