PuristSPro preview: OMEGA Solar Impulse Co-Axial GMT PART1

Feb 03, 2009,00:45 AM

The deep concern in the scientific and ecological area lead Omega to be active in the development of alternative means of sustainable energy for the future.  By providing engineering and capital, Omega has partnered with the Solar Impulse project.

The objective is to fly around the world powered by the energy harnessed from the sun.  To commemorate the test flight of HB-SIA, they have released the Solar Impluse Co-Axial GMT.

Omega Boutique Beverly Hills allowed PuristSPro.com to preview the first release of the Co-Axial GMT:

To link the HB-SIA solar plane which used titanium and carbon fiber, the Omega Solar Impulse utilizes a Titanium (Grade 2) case and a carbon fiber dial.  The bezel is titanium but with a aluminum black tachymetre ring.

More info?

I failed to ask what the number to be produced is as an LE? And what is the occasion of release, something about a test flight of the vehicle? Real or virtual. Has the craft been airborne yet? Even hard to tell on the SI site. Any more appreicatied.

More info...

Hello kevster! The Omega Solar Impulse Co-Axial GMT is a numbered edition, not a LE. The pilots Bertrand Piccard and AndrĂ© Borschberg have done a 25 hour virtual test last year in May 2008 and now they just finished endurance testing on the solar panels. ...

Thanks again. [nt]
