For sale is my Chopard LUC Sport 2000 wristwatch, complete with box, papers, guarantee/warranty and receipt (2007) from the authorised dealer in London’s Canary Wharf. It is in good condition and comes with two spare straps in addition to the original tropical rubber band, which has seen very little use. The racing band is a 19mm Chopard original leather number (£100+) from their Mille Miglia series and is in excellent condition. The other is a bespoke ABP black python number (£140) which I would rate at 7/10. It is designed to fit my smaller wrist, so the lumberjacks amongst you probably won’t be using it.

The bezel has the usual (very light) scuffs that are generally unavoidable with occasional wear. Hopefully the pictures show up the marks as accurately as possible. Mechanically, the watch is perfect. It keeps excellent time and has never had any problems. It has been trouble free and looked after very carefully by a long term collector with experience handling mechanical watches.

Let’s talk about the watch itself for a minute. The dial is black with applied rhodium plated dagger markers that catch light beautifully. The hands are luminova coated for enhanced visibility. The watch is a wearable 40mm and very thin – it is rare these days for an automatic sports watch to fit under one’s shirt cuff. But that’s the beauty of Michal Parmigiani’s design. The inset microrotor saves precious height. The power reserve is a useful 65 hours, better than the usual 45ish you’ll get from most single barrel designs. The movement is nicely decorated compared to other 4.96 variations, featuring black lettering and a Damascened rhodium (!) plated rotor made from tungsten. Winding is efficient and quiet. The stem engages confidently and manual winding is equally smooth, in comparison to lesser automatics that I won’t care to mention here. In short, it’s a very beautiful, technically advanced movement, expertly finished and practical to use.

The RRP is in the region of £4200, so this represents a lot of REAL watch for the money. Try finding a Swiss manufactured movement of this quality at a lower price. It’s an eye catching but discrete sports watch adaptable for a variety of situations.

Please check my other watch - a limited edition Meccaniche Veloci Pharaons Rally chronograph.

As for payment, I would prefer the buyer to inspect the watch personally before handing over the cash, rather than paypal/courier system. As a rule you should never, ever buy a watch sight unseen off the net. It’s fraught with dangers and you’re asking to get ripped off. I have sold many other quality watches from my collection (BP, JLC, IWC, GO) and always dealt with buyers face to face. I can meet buyers anywhere in London, Eastbourne or Hastings, where I tend to spend most of my time. Shipping costs reflect full insurance cover.

Thanks in advance.
