For sale my Vacheron Constantin Chronometre Royal, ref. 6340
from year 1962.
It has a splendid manual movement Cal.P1008/BS, directly related to the 488/Sbr
of the military JLC Mk XI, and the P478/BWSBr of the JLC Chronometre Geophysic.
Cal.P1008/BS is 12.5 lignes (28.5mm diameter), has 19 rubies, beryllium balance
wheel, Breguet spiral , swan-neck fine regulation, and 18000 bph.
As inscribed the movement is fully adjusted for temperature, isochronism and
positions, and bears a double Geneva Seal ("Poincon de Geneve” ). See
images to appreciate the finish of the movement, in particular the fine Cote de
Geneve and exquisite anglage of all bridges. As the JLC ebauche from which it
derives, has an elegant stop-seconds mechanism.
The dial is in a sunburst silver pattern, with applied gold markers and V&C
cross, and alpha hands. At the back of the case only - "CHRONOMETRE ROYAL”
- a hint of the splendid movement to be found inside.
It has been serviced in 2014, and used very rarely since. It was purchased from
Antiquorum in 2007 (letter included) , and has since received the VC Certficate
booklet in 2008, following service and inspection (certificate n. 1915).
It comes with an original VC crocodile strap, its 18k gold buckle signed AW
(one of the suppliers in the 60s), and an original , double signed VC box . All
paperwork and the Uhren magazine will be included of course.
