Fantastic find!

Jan 23, 2017,03:47 AM

Congratulations on capturing this wonderful G-P.   The strap is divine and looks in good condition after so many years.   The watch must have been stored well to look so much like new.   The 6 and 12 curving of the bezel is the same for the steel versions as is the bevelling of the case lugs to lugs.   The dial, hands and indices are fantastic.   The watch is timeless - sell the collection and just keep this one!   Who needs any more than this?

We are all very envious but greatly admire your tenacity in this wonderful acquisition.   We all know someone here who is very envious!

Best

Clive

Is this a N. American (and Caribbean) export model?

 By: MTF : January 22nd, 2017-08:20
Congratulations CC on an impossible find of a 60-year old virgin! The original Swiss model was in 18K yellow gold for SFr 725. Yours is marked 14K gold. Was it an export model hence explaining it's storage unrecognised? How did its price compare with the ...

Thanks Melvyn

 By: crown comfort : January 22nd, 2017-10:32
indeed, I have found the watch in the US, so it was likely an export model with a 14K case. Not sure how we can put a value on the 725 SFr from 1955 by today's value, but certainly a lot more

Indeed - North America export model - see the GXM markings on the movement.

That is the North America export code for Girard-Perregaux. Best Blomman

there are only some very few people who deserve a catch like this

and you are certainly on of these very few people. Very happy for you to call this fantastic GP yours.

You and Blomman are just amazing ;-)

Huge congratulation, my friend! This is one you need to show me next time! Here is another document from 1956 featuring the 7050: Best Blomman ...

Thanks a lot, my friend and also for showing the extra Ad

What a catch, CC!

 By: Speedie74 aka Mr. Torquise : January 22nd, 2017-11:38
HUGE CONGRATS! Wear it with the best of your health! I didn\'t know this model, the design reminds me a little of the older Glashütte Spezimatic watches.. Works the movement perfect? Was the watch already serviced? Yours, Adam

Thank you so much, Adam

 By: crown comfort : January 22nd, 2017-12:27
yes, movement just works, winding is smooth and it runs well on time. I have no info on service history.

Thanks Raymond, hmm, a museum?

 By: crown comfort : January 22nd, 2017-12:58
only if I'm still allowed to wear my museum pieces

Thanks so much, Nico :)

 By: crown comfort : January 22nd, 2017-12:59
I have to say, on this classic dress watch, the gold works even better than steel. Perhaps we should aim for both

WOW, what a beauty you have got.

 By: gup502 : January 22nd, 2017-18:17
There are certain things one needs a bit of luck to find it even money not necessarily an issue. Congrat! I presume the leather band is also vintage. The stitches look hand sewn and the styling is really quite different! Nice.

Thanks for looking, yes a bit of luck was needed

 By: crown comfort : January 22nd, 2017-23:48
the strap should be the original from the 50ies, so yeah, vintage!

Fantastic find!

... it is so exciting to make a find like this! We instantly fall in love and feel we can´t let it pass the opportunity of owning such a unique piece which somehow resisted the pass of time! Enjoy in good health and thank you so much for sharing these bre...

I have a strong suspicion

 By: TS1987 : January 25th, 2017-21:57
that the box is from a later period than the watch due to the lack of hyphen in "Girard Perregaux"
