Calling all Omega fans - please let me have your opinion . . .

. . . about my current dilemma: how should I equip my '57 Connie chronometer that I just acquired from Bill S: Strap or bracelet? My preference is for straps and deployants, and all my watches are equipped in that configuration. Here are two photos of the...

I will never put Connie on bracelet it just doesn't fit especially with this dark dial gold outfit my choice will be nice black gator strap Sincerely Damian

I'm inclined to agree with you, Damian . . .

. . . and honestly, the thought of using a bracelet would never have occurred to me if I hadn't seen Bill's previous photos. Here's a sample of the type of alligator leather that I'd like to use: ABP Paris refers to this as an 'aged and waxy' leather. Wha...

That is the ONE IMHO great choice

Hi Art, it depends if you want to wear it regularly or not... If yes: Take a rice grain bracelet for summer (sweat!) - they are very comfortable - and a black gator strap for the cooler season! Thats what I do kind regards erich

This watch in stainless steel was delivered with a

black strap. I would keep it original, on a black strap. The stainless steel bracelet is very nice, but it doesn't look as classy as with a strap. IMHO ofcourse

Wasn't the 'beads of rice' bracelet original equipment on Connies . . .

 By: Dr No : August 5th, 2008-18:15
. . . in that time period, RJ? Perhaps it was an extra cost option, but wasn't that style of bracelet originally available at the buyer's discretion? Curiously, Art

I don't think so

I've seen them

And I think it would look great on your watch. Damn the naysayers

The memory of your bracelet equipped Seamaster 300 was . . .

. . . the other impetus for my question, Kurt . . . I'm leaning towards a custom strap and Omega deployant, but the jury is still out. I can opt for both, but I fear a bracelet will never happen if I get the strap first . . . regards, Art

Art, deployment has to be a no, no. too modern to look right. rice grain is the right era and would look very good as would black leather. just my 3.5c Graham

I not only understand your point, Graham, I also agree . . .

. . . it's just that I really, really hate the kink a tang buckle creates. I realize that's putting appearance before originality, but superficiality has it's merits, too ;-) . . . cordially, Art

Art, the kink in the leather is only visible when you are not wearing the watch so i personally dont see it as a problem especially as i often change OEM straps for cheaper croc straps(or stingray). i think the only watches i own with original straps on a...

I was afraid you were going to say that, Graham . . .

 By: Dr No : August 14th, 2008-01:08
. . . honestly, I hate the kink so much that I equipped my vintage Longines and Seiko with generic deployants. I don't know what I'll do yet, but at least I'm prepared for the inevitable brickbats no matter the choice ;-) . . . cordially, Art

Pie-pan should look classic...

 By: hhk2 : August 5th, 2008-22:59
And the only way is to put it on a black leather strap...from the photo your watch seem too glaring with the SS bracelet...kinda overcast the watch itself...put it on leather and the contrast will bring out the classic look of Pan-pie. Omegamanic

Might agree

. . . .is a well-padded package and that you send it to me!!! Gorgeous watch. I believe that I have seen the watch in person (hard to say -- Bill has so many) and it looked better ITRW on a bracelet than in the photo. If you like it, keep it on the bracel...

Sorry, Sam. . .

Beautiful piece Art! Congrats. ..

It does not look bad in bracelet....but lost some character though. With black croc straps, it will complete this classic. Kong

A strap, my friend, a strap!

 By: amanico : August 6th, 2008-08:31
A nice black matt croc, for sure... The question is with or without stiching, to math the golden indexes??? With stitching, it will be a bit risky, but the outcome may be nice. Without, it will be a classic, elegant timeless combo... Best, and once again,...

Beautiful watch, compliments!!!

black croc strap IMHO although i've just changed the look of my Railmaster

 By: G99 : August 8th, 2008-07:28
those of you who know me know that i dont spend money when it is not needed. i have seen 20mm and 22mm ploprof OEM straps on the bay going for a huge amount. the railmaster is conveniently 21mm which causes a problem so i ended up buying a 22mm ploprof st...

. . . I managed to try on a solid yellow gold bracelet equipped Railmaster a few months ago at the Omega boutique in Beverly Hills, which I found particularly striking. I don't think I've ever seen a photo of a Railmaster on anything other than the standa...
