SM300 and new shell cordovan strap

 By: joeyza : September 5th, 2009-16:28
I think I've struck pay dirt with this combo. A rugged watch with rugged leather. In order to make it the complete package, I'll have to get a matching 18mm Omega buckle. Slainte, Joe...

Looks like a perfect match between watch and strap . . .

. . . of course, you realize we're all waiting for the wrist shot! Good call, Joe . . . cordially, Art

Perfect match, indeed!

Aaah;, the Cordovan straps, and their unbeattable feeling whe you touch the leather! Loos perfect on the SM 300. Thanks for sharing. Aaah, I'm also looking for a Vintage Omega Buckle for my SM 300... Best! Nicolas

Perfect together!

Stitching blends perfectly with indexes and hour markers.

You'd think I'd know this as I sell shoes and belts for a living but....black shell cordovan? I always thought only in burgundy-ish color. Love the black. May I enquire where you got it?

Joe, could you pm me detail please

my sm300 should be back from refurb soon and i want a nice strap for it. this looks great although i'm considering a hirsch waterproof carbon fibre look leather strap. they are WR to 100m so ideal for a divers watch. i need to get it back to decide what i...

How does that work, Graham?

Please don't take this a being picky, but how does a watch-band get rated for WR? Does it suddenly go all soggy when you take it to 110m?

damn good question that man...

damn good question that man !! i have absolutely no idea. apparently its lined with rubber. how that makes it waterproof i dont know, but they guarantee them for 1 year as they do all their straps. i'm more interested in the counterbalance between vintage...

Would you wear it in anything deeper than - rain?

Good question. I have to say, I really like diving watches, especially Rolex, Omegas and Seikos, but have never used any of them (except actually a Seiko - once) for anything deeper than an occasional rain.... So I might look stupid wearing my diving watc...

i think your probably right...

 By: G99 : September 7th, 2009-08:11
i think your probably right Hans. i checked out the site and the staps look very good. i have 3 sm300's, 1 thin bezel with its original 19mm steel mesh and 2 later models so one of them ought to deserve a Cordovan. my refurbed one is going to be a few mor...

My guess is that...

...that the nicer leather that makes for a comfortable strap would be damaged by a couple of decent salt water exposures. Even if you rinsed them out or soaked them in fresh water after exposure, you'd still get them into that terrible soggy state. The on...

you are undoubtedly right Ben....

 By: G99 : September 8th, 2009-01:32
you are undoubtedly right Ben. i dont intend to really get it wet i just cant make my mind up about what i want. i have a 20mm mesh already which i could put on it, but i fancy the idea of a CF look strap. i'm still waiting for parts anyway so plenty of t...

Hi Joe The watch looks great on the strap.... I have a few in oxblood, tan, brown and black.... Here is a 19 mm on my Seamaster day date 751.. I have a few in 18 mm as well. I have worn these straps in the height of summer's heat and humidity the strap st...
