Looking Real Speedmaster Professional Is It Fake?

Jul 03, 2009,05:48 AM

Hello everyone,
I am new here, this is my first post, I am not even sure how it works but I want to try.
I recently bought an Omega Speedmaster Professional "Sandwich". Sapphire Crystal front and back. But I have few questions that I am not sure about.
The front crystal doesn't have the Omega logo, I know the "plastic" one has it.
The serial number is written upside down. It match with the movement number, #77228428. Paper says has been bought in 2009.
The shop who sold it in 09 is  xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx They sell only on internet and they assure the originality. I thought Omega and Rolex can be sold only from authorized dealers.
The number on the band is not punched but, I'd say, laser written.
Box looks real, red leather, but the Omega logo on the top fade a lil bit, doesn't look original to me. Its very well done though.
I compared it with so many pictures and, since I also had 3 other Speedy in the past, it looks like it is original.
It stopped 2 times. The spring is fully charged now and the crown is very hard to rotate, also when you have to change the time. Looks like it's too tight. Can this be the cause why it stops?
Any help, suggestion, comment or ideas it very appreciated.
Thank you and congratulation for the helpful web site.
Giorgio

Hello and welcome Giorgio to the forums! I recommend taking it to a local Omega AD (Authorized Dealer) near you in Florida to have them look at it for you. There are always risks from buying from a grey market/non-AD so please be careful and do your homew...

Yes, take it to your local Omega AD. Even a non-Omega AD who deals in watches in general can usually tell simply by unscrewing the back (even if it is a sapphire display back) and verifying it's the real thing. Check all serial numbers, on the back of the...
