I sent in my fathers old time piece for servicing at Swatch Group S.E.A. (S) Pte Ltd. They quoted something like S$1090 for complete maintenance service and S$900 to refurbish the dial. I would be interested to have some opinion if this is worth doing. JJ

Hi the watch can have a total overhaul at any good watchmaker for anything between 100 and 200 USD=parts are available and the watch would come out in excellent functional condition. Regarding the dial, IMHO you should evaluate fully if it is worth doing,...

there are a lot of superb watchmakers all over the world who will do a job equally as well as Omega for a fraction of the price. my own watchmaker in UK is ex omega and a total refurb of a standard auto would cost less than £150 not including the dia... 

It is always a hard call on restoration / repair

Hi It all depends on the "value": you place on the timepiece. If it is a watch you pick up at a flea market , or if its one handed down to you... Then the next step... As you do the restoration / repair becareful not to replace everything... what do you h...

If you have a highly rare early Omega with a complex complication, there's a slight possibility this cost is in line, but impossible for us to guess.

Would love to send you pic, but I don't have it with me now. The watch was shipped to Omega in Switzerland by the agents in Singapore for their assessment. They also told me that if I do not go ahead with the repair, they would return the watch but cannot...
