By: Bill Sohne : June 2nd, 2009-01:23
Hi all Well I got a fedex box from Omega today , but I did not get home until very late and my late night photo outing ended on a sour note....But we will get to that later.... Drum roll.... First time on the net , at least to the best of my knowledge... ...
Thanks for your time and hard work, Bill

I had a lot of pleasure to see this comparative review of the original and the re edition, as it is always interesting to see how trustful is the work of our favourite brands in this " exercize of style "... In temrs of thickness and size, I'm ...Deeply i...
Wow, Art, are you sure

you're not a Lawyer? You're so brilliant in your analysis, my friend. Very nicely written, Art. Best, Nicolas

For this very interesting and quite complete (…for a 4h00 a.m. dissertation…) review! That is a hunk of a watch! I wasn't quite expecting it to be even bigger than the 600m! Nearly indestructible too! Quote: "Well I got a fedex box from Omega ...
You are killing me with these pics, Bill. It's torture!
By: Ruckdee : June 2nd, 2009-07:33
Now I want mine to arrive much more quickly. Seriously, congratulations, Bill, on such a fine acquisition. I can't think of a current, regular production Omega watch that deserves to make it into your collection more. Ruckdee
nice comparison..

Saw the watch in Basel and my boss was wearing his original, so we've been waiting for something like this. Awesome, thanks
This is a review I wanted to see
By: mrsnak : June 2nd, 2009-08:49
Thanks for the side-by-side comparison. Suspected the new one was larger, but nice to see exactly how much.
Excellent report, Bill!
By: Tony C. : June 2nd, 2009-09:26
While even the vintage Plo is way too big for my wrist, I enjoyed your comprehensive comparison. Well done! Best regards, Tony C.
Killer photos, Kong!

Thanks for the wrist shots in particular! This baby looks absolutely beastly! I'd be curious to try it on. Cheers, Daos

Funny, Art! I worry more for you, dear fellow! I sense the Ploprof has you in its grasp! I am tapped out for the year! LOL! Cheers, Daos
Great Photos.....Three Questions for you, Bill....
By: db darien : June 2nd, 2009-10:46
Thanks for a great set of comparative photos, Bill. I've worn both the new PLO Prof and the Rolex DSSD. I own, you may recall, a PO (42 mm). How big of a technical advancement do you think the new Omega Ploprof represents versus the older model? From a pu...

The 1200 isn't a front-loader and is too blingy (Bezel release button, Polished ridges on bezel, etc) There is also more considered case work and form in the original. I know Omega didn't want a 100% faithful reissue, but so much of that watch is cosmetic...
Original is a better dive watch
By: Bonesmiller : June 8th, 2009-05:46
Absolutely agree with the above: too much of the tool nature of the original has been removed or replaced to satisfy current trends. If I didn't classify the Ploprof as the ultimate tool watch, these changes would be less bothersome I suppose. Just hard t...
This is an awesome dive watch
By: ling5hk : June 2nd, 2009-15:53
The case design is very unique and outstanding. The bracelet and the clasp are very well designed. Well done and thanks Bill. Regards Ling
Thanks for the side-by-side comparison, Bill!
By: dxboon : June 3rd, 2009-01:18
I just love the mesh bracelet on the new Ploprof! It looks really stylish, and well-constructed. The vintage Ploprof was already a good-sized chunk of metal, but this re-edition is massive! Art has said the watch wears well, potentially due in part to the...

DAmn you got good skills lol Nice watches
Many thanks for this great comparo, Bill!
By: Gary G : June 3rd, 2009-15:28
The only tinge of sadness for me is that now "anyone" can wear a PloProf -- still, it's a great looking piece! Brilliant and thorough comparison. My hope is that the fix on the 600 is straigtforward, and that you'll be able to wear it again soon. Best, Ga...
Great job Bill S.!
By: DRMW : June 3rd, 2009-19:47
Excellent report Bill, I'm sure many people were waiting for someone to a side-to-side comparo like this!!! Can you do a Lume comparison too? -MW
Seems OK on an 8-inch wrist but
By: MTF : June 4th, 2009-08:45
.....probably a little silly on the smaller wrists depicted in subsequent photos by Kong. Then again, for it's "unique" design and history, EVERY Omega dive watch enthusiast has to have one! Thanks, Bill S, for the 1st Internet side-by-side comparison.......
Wonderful post. One question...
By: cubanchem1 : June 8th, 2009-15:33
do you know if the new bracelet will fit the original PloProf? I would love to have an improved and more adjustable bracelet on my original PP. Thanks! Cheers, Pedro
hmm.... New bracelet should fit
By: Bill Sohne : June 9th, 2009-04:25
Hi Pedro The bands are the same width. But I will double check it tonight when I get home. Welcome to the forum ! Good Hunting Bill Sohne
New straps fitting old Ploprof
By: Bonesmiller : June 24th, 2009-16:15
Whilst I couldn't swap straps during my time with the new Ploprof, here is a profile comparison of the new rubber next to the old rubber, mesh and link bracelets. As you can see, the lug width is 24mm and so fit isn't a problem from that perspective: The ...

I haven't tried the mesh, but the new rubber "Ploprof" - labeled strap does fit the vintage SMP600....

Hi Bill, Great post on a a great watch. My question is you say the case width is less than the case height, but that does not appear to be correct I'm assuming your dimesions are the overall size of the case? Cheers David
Not sure what you mean....
By: Bill Sohne : June 10th, 2009-06:05
Hi David Welcome to the forum.... But I am not sure what you mean.... The case width of the new 1200m is 48 mm measuring from the outside edge of the crown to the opposite side of the case ( from 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock ) . The case height is the measureme...
Case size...
By: david.graham : June 10th, 2009-07:16
Hi Bill, sorry if I did not make myself clear. 48mm wor the overall case width doesn't seem that big at all to me. In your post you stated that the length of the case (12 to 6) is 54.7mm. When you look at the watch face-on, it looks wider than it does in ...
