Geneve - help needed

Oct 03, 2011,08:59 AM

Thanks in advance guys.  I have come across this Omega Geneve and cannot find anything on the Omega Vintage Database to confirm its identity.

It is an Omega 18kt case with a ref of 2981.  It has a cal 491 movement (although I'm not so sure) and it is said to date to 1960.  Oh, and it has a gold dial.

I can't make my mind up about it so your expertise would be appreciated.

Cheers

Andrew

Hi guys, The problem is that case ref 2981 doesn't show up on the Omega Vintage Database - whilst I know that there are omissions I do find it surprising that it is not there. Case Ref 2982 is there and it is similar but has a different movement (500 seri...

... BTW, not sure what happened to my other post, but the information from JB showed that the Ref. 2981 case came with either the cal. 491 or cal. 503 movement. Take care, gatorcpa

The watch looks ALL ORIGINAL and Correct to me , I would buy it if the price was right.

Hi Andrew First off that is a GREAT watch, the Early Geneves was Omega's high end watch line. If you look at the case , the bezel is triple beveled , the lugs has a beveled edge. This is all hand done and take extra time and care to do correctly. The dial...
