Hello friends!
After sharing my SM 300 ref 166.024, I´d like to show here my reference 2913-7, whith more detail.
In my personal view, this earlier version has a more charming and "vintage" look. May be it is due to its smaller case size, the plain lugs, the arrow minute hand and lollipop seconds hand, and the thin elapsed time bezel, which all contribute to this special look I love so much.
The movement is an automatic caliber 501, working with awesome accuracy, considering the age of this watch made around 1958.
My watch came with the original steel bracelet, though I like to wear these old timepieces with leather straps from time to time.
The overall condition of this specimen is very good, though not so good as the 166.024. I specially regret the marks made by a sloppy watchmaker on its caseback.
The original engraving of the Seamaster Sea Monster is so lightly made, that I fear that to polish the back to take the marks out could make dissapear the enngraving. So I decided to leave it as I found it.
SM 300 are considered very rare birds in my Country, and as a matter of fact, I had been looking after one for my collection for some few years, with no luck.
Now, it seems Cosmos arranged things well for me, as in the last three months I came to cross my path with these two specimens, which I couldn´t resist to take home.
I feel these Dive watches from Omega are representative of an early age of Scuba diving activity, and a very interesting option for collectors.
I wish you´ll like it as much as I do.
Best cordial regards, Abel.
