Two 'Vintage' Omegas Back from Service

Here are two beautiful watches given to me by my uncle. The Seamaster was a college graduation gift from his mother (my grandmother) in 1966. In fact, very faintly on the back, '6-66' is engraved (no satanic jokes please). The other is a rose gold dress watch of around that same vintage that he acquired while traveling in South America during his stint in the Peace Corp. I have seen photos of the movement and it is gold-finished with all the correct markings. The watchmaker assures me that both are genuine (I have the sales receipt for the Seamaster so that was never in question). The interesting thing about the rose gold watch is the size. By my measure it is at least 37mm and almost 38mm excluding the crown. The Seamaster is a more traditional 35mm or so. I thought it was very unusual for a 'dress' watch of this era to be so large. I just thought it would be interesting to see a nice pair of Omegas back from the first service they've had in 20 or more years. Other than the movements being cleaned, I just added the straps and had the acrylic crystals polished. I didn't have any polishing done on the cases, nor did I have any restoration done on the dials or hands. I wanted to keep them as 'original' as I possibly could. Thanks for viewing and please excuse the mess I might make of uploading the photos (I usually only text).

The case for the black dial looks like it could have been the template for Moser's new Venturer. Do you have the reference # for it?

I wish I did...

I must confess that I don't know as much about Omega as other brands. I would appreciate learning from the experts here about both watches. I just find it interesting that for its age, the black dial watch is rose gold (which I usually think of as more mo...

and is almost always noted by watchmaker performing service on their invoice/receipt.

My guess is that the jumbo model is a ref 2687 . . .

. . . from the mid-'50s. Unlikely that the dial is unretouched; I've never seen a black un engraved iteration, plus the fonts and printing don't quite match verified originals. With all the dials and movements available these days, it might be worth your ...

Neither dial retouched in the usual sense...

...but my uncle did have the 'radium' on the Seamaster dial scraped off...probably in the late 60s or early 70s (long story). I don't want to change the dial because the value is purely sentimental to me. Scraping the radium off is just part of the story....
