"Where the 70's survived" - Heavy Omegas from the 70's ...

Sep 20, 2014,03:21 AM

Team,

Other day, on a coffee shop, I notice that several members had heavy Omegas from the 70's.

Not for me (they look weird on my supermodel wrist) but I admire their designs.

Somehow they remember to me the soundtrack of the movie "Reservoir Dogs" where there is a D.J. between almost every song saying things like:

Title: Bohemiath (Dialogue) (Wright, Steven)

"KBILLY's Super Sounds Of The 70s" continues.
We just heard "The World Is A Ghetto" by War, and
"Billy, Don't Be A Hero" by Bo Donaldson and the Haywoods.
And if you're the 12th caller, you'll win two tickets to the monster truck extravaganza
Being held tonight at the Carson Fairgrounds,
Featuring Big Daddy Don Bodein's truck, "The Bohemiath".
The 12th caller wins, on the station where the 70s survived,
K. - B. I. L. L. Y.

Here are some pictures (took with my phone - sorry):

Notice that those watches are not "safe queens". They saw a life, got banged, bad polished but ... they are alive:

This one carries the Lemania 5100. Never understood why it's a famous movement.

Second gen Flightmaster

They already saw better days, for sure.

We teased the owner of this Mark. We called his watch "The Junior".

As a coincidence, next day at one flea marked, I saw another heavy.

Among some other so so, in terms of quality, Omegas.

Saturday here, raining outside, finally! Our city is in much need of rain (and water on our reservoirs).

A great weekend to all,

Nilo

Seems like the same watchmaker . . .

. . . polished both, Nilo . . . similar appearance, duplicated loss of crispness. As for being wrist challenged, though, I'm not so sure. One of the main reasons I'm so drawn to these '70s designs is that they're more amenable than their nominal size migh...

If you continue your quest....

Art, I'm sure that you will locate a nice Mk II with the racing dial. Other day I saw one in great shape (including the original strap) on the wrist of my watchmaker. I was on a rush and when I spoke again with him, his customer had sold it. One day one w...

There's a personal connection with that particular Mk II . . .

. . . that beckons, Nilo. Not into chronos much these days. I'd be more inclined towards a period SM, like HSTE'S . . . . . . SM 200. What a . . . . . . case! ...

That's glorious ....

Unfortunately I never saw one unmodified (dial and hands modern replacements). One day, one will pop up, specially when my watch budget is low. Sad but true. Cheers, Nilo

I have a weak spot for the Ploprof. It wears a lot smaller that one images. It is not too tall. The first example is almost mint. The second has been diving for a while but looks great. Bill ...

At the same time intriguing into those angles. They are very rare, at least here. Even the reeditidon is very uncommon. Yours is in top shape, congratulations. Cheers, Nilo

I am not sure of the numbers produced but it was not high

The competition was stiff at the time with Rolex. I was told it was twice or more the price but I have since found that the price was much closer to a Rolex that we have been lead to believe. An odd shape in a competitive dive arena. But it proved it coul...
