. . . or Charlie Duke that told this story, but here goes: several Apollo astronauts were training on the lunar surface vehicle in the New Mexico desert when they heard an Indian chant in the distance.
Intrigued, they followed the chants to their source, an old Indian sitting on the ground pounding a tom-tom and wailing in Navajo. They asked their guide what the old Indian was saying, but the guide wasn't able to decipher the lingo. Fortunately one of the astronauts had a tape recorder and recorded several minutes of chanting.
When they got back to Houston they found an interpreter and played the tape for him. The interpreter listened, then fell on the floor laughing.
"What's the old guy singing?"
When the interpreter finally composed himself, he replied, "The Indian Chief is saying, 'Hey, Moon People, don't believe these White devils. They're coming to steal your land.'"
