Excellent write up of an Iconic watch

Joe- excellent write up of a great piece. I enjoy all your reports very much. A few things to note.
1) you mention the hands & how the minute hand extends to the edge. A good point. You never mentioned the hour hand? The hour hand has a long neck that extends over the 3-6-9 numbers something only very few Rolex share (I can only think of 6350, 6150, 6205, 6200 and the first batch of the red depth 6542). I think this is very attractive these long necks and very rare. It deserves to be mentioned in your report.
2) Your theory about open versus closed 6 in the red depth does not fit with the upcoming Phillips 6610 red depth which seems to be very correct.
There the serial range is also 13xxxxx and the 6 is closed and not open.
So maybe that theory needs to be re-looked at? As to the theory of the red depth being on top- I could not agree more. I have now seen enough to treat any red depth below the second half of the dial with scepticism (extreme scepticism).
I really am appreciating the red-depth 6610. So much that I might soon keep you in good company.
Best Edmond
ps: I love your band you put on the explorer. It is the perfect choice and although I don't like to copy others- I will make an exception here. It is perfect.
