COMES TO SINGAPORE FROM 11 – 20 JULY 2008
With less than 60 days to the start and to commemorate OMEGA’s involvement in this summer’s Olympics Games, the luxury Swiss watchmaker will bring the 1st Olympics Exhibition to Singapore from 11 - 20 July 2008 at the main atrium of Paragon Shopping Mall. Daily exhibition begins from 10:30 to 20:30h.
This 2008 will be OMEGA’s 23rd involvement as Official Time Keeper in the summer Olympics in Beijing. As the Official Timekeeper of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, OMEGA is responsible for official results at all competitions. OMEGA’s timekeeping professionals provide comprehensive timekeeping services that include the display of results to competitors and the public at the venues, data handling and the provision of On Venue Results (OVR), and the delivery of official results for distribution by the print, broadcast and network media to audiences around the world.
OMEGA’s close relationship with the Olympics began in 1932 when the Swiss watch manufacturer was entrusted with the role of official timekeeper for the Games in Los Angeles. Over the years, OMEGA has invested heavily in the development and continuous innovation of sports timekeeping and measurement systems. OMEGA’s dedication in providing consistently accurate, precise and incontestable results thus enables the athletes to focus on their own performance.
The ten-day exhibition will present members of the public an opportunity not only to experience the rich history behind its involvement with Olympics over the past 75 years, it will also illustrate Omega’s long standing relationship with China for the last 113 years.
On display will be a showcase of Omega sports timekeeping instruments used over the past 75 years for the first time in Singapore, including:
* The first stopwatch ever made by OMEGA in 1898.
* The Racend Omega Timer – Magic Eye, world’s first photo-finish camera in 1948.
*The OMEGASCOPE 1962 version, that superimpose a clock onto the television screen.
* The Swim-O-Matic touch pads at the Mexico City 1968 Olympic Games.
The public can look forward to watching these historical timekeeping devices in action through their interaction with these equipment; all milestones in themselves.
The exhibition features a section whereby kids and adults alike can put OMEGA’s sports timekeeping devices to the test by timing their run on the speed stimulation game.
Timepieces from the Olympic Beijing Collection 2008, featuring the Olympic Limited Edition as well as the Olympic Timeless Collection, will be available for sale at the exhibition.
One of the highlights of the exhibition includes daily private tours which will offer guests a deeper and more intimate understanding of OMEGA, from its illustrious past to its distinguished present.
