My methods aren't quite . . .

. . . as focused as more disciplined collectors, Nicolas. The longing for a military Omega came about many years ago. Found my favorite, a '56 RAF (white dial, blued hands), at an American dealer back in the fall of 2011. As it happened, we couldn't come to terms, and that opportunity disappeared when it was sold to someone else.
Time went by, resources grew scarcer, and before long, I stumbled upon the ref 2179/2384. Not difficult to find, and compared to the more desirable British models, far more attractively priced. A better specimen went for a fraction above my bid earlier this year. When this one came up a few months later, I decided to play for keeps, and bid accordingly. Someone in Japan won the auction by a hair but was unable to follow thru with the seller, so I was able to pick up the watch at my original bid.
It spent about three months on the watchmaker's bench. Here's hoping it spends three decades on my wrist!
Best,
Art
