There's not a lot of firm information . . .

. . . on this reference, Thomas. Both marked [US Army] and unmarked versions were issued, and no one - not even Omega - knows how many were marked. There are marked and unmarked examples within the same slash [/] serial code (i e, both marked and unmarked examples of ref 2179/5). I'm not even sure whether the caseback markings were engraved by Omega.
My sense is this reference was originally issued to US military personnel, offered for sale on US military bases shortly thereafter, and eventually ended up in retail outlets when war surplus equipment was offered to entrepreneurs. As for the chronometer 'rating', it's doubtful there's any real correlation with established Omega chronometer movements. I don't see a similarity to the 30T2SCrg, nor a divergence from any other 30T2SC in my movement.
It would be interesting to see the contractual details agreed upon between the US government and Omega; perhaps there was a stipulation with regards to adjustment methods and/or timing results.
Also of interest: mine has the nickel plated finish, with a movement number in the 10.2 mil range, while yours is copper plated and in the 10.3 range. Mine is from the /5 series, while yours is from the /6. Perhaps the dividing line between nickel and copper plated movements is reflected in our respective watches.
Best,
