OMEGA De Ville Prestige “Butterfly”

Mar 29, 2014,13:08 PM

Graced with a delicate butterfly design, the new OMEGA De Ville Prestige “Butterfly” is inspired by the beauty found in nature and is an enchanting addition to the Prestige collection. The exquisite butterfly motif on the dial is inspired by Chinese popular culture, which associates the delicate being with love and longevity.

OMEGA De Ville Prestige “Butterfly” 27.4 mm
Glimmering in stainless steel or a bicolour combination of stainless steel and 18K yellow or red gold, this unique wristwatch is presented with an attractive champagne or silvery dial featuring a beautiful butterfly design created using a decorating technique known as ramolayage, or “pounced ornament”.

The polished and domed Roman numeral indexes are plated with rhodium, red gold or yellow gold to correspond to the case and bracelet. Facetted hour, minute and seconds hands match the material of the hour indexes. The dial is also available with eight diamond indexes and Roman numerals at 3,6, 9 and 12 o’clock.

The De Ville Prestige “Butterfly” is available with a polished or diamond-set bezel featuring a polished crown and is presented on a polished bicolour or stainless steel “Prestige” bracelet or a satin-brushed leather strap with a white mother-of-pearl effect.

The OMEGA quartz calibre 1376 powering the timepiece is protected by a vertically brushed caseback embossed with an image of Chronos, the god of time.

OMEGA De Ville Prestige “Butterfly” 32.7 mm

The 32.7 mm OMEGA De Ville Prestige “Butterfly”, with its white pearled mother-of-pearl dial, is presented with a case crafted from 18K yellow or red gold and stainless steel, or smooth stainless steel case. Its enchanting dial is decorated with a polished butterfly enhanced by a transferred outline and matt background. Red or yellow gold- or rhodium-plated hour markers complement the polished and domed Roman numerals and diamond indexes.

This beautiful wristwatch is offered with a polished “Prestige” bracelet or a white satin-brushed leather strap with a white mother-of-pearl effect and polished buckle.

At the heart of the De Ville Prestige “Butterfly” is the exclusive OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 2500 which features a three-level Co-Axial escapement and a free-sprung balance.

The De Ville Prestige “Butterfly” 27.4 mm and 32.7 mm watches are water resistant to 3 bar (30 metres / 1000 feet) and are offered with a two- or three-year warranty respectively.

Superb. Two reserves, nonetheless...

1/ The wording at 6 o clock, which was not necessary. 2/ The sapphire case back, which is a non sense of such a diving Watch. The rest is as convincing as it is seductive. Best, Nicolas

This was "watch of the show" for me...

Love that Omega 300. Loved the vintage one as well but I just can't bear buying an old beat up watch with a ' tropical' dial. Rather fade one myself.

It looks really great...

...and I think it was a good idea to reissue the early SM300. Now let's wait and see how it looks like in the metal.

Lovely classic, though sadly too large for me

 By: anaesdoc : March 30th, 2014-12:24
Hi Kong, thanks for presenting this Omega novelty! I would go for it on the spot as this classic case and waffle dial with the date at six is a great favourite of mine. The old ref. 2627 and 2757 display these features, but they have the modest diameter o...

If it only was mine, sigh!

 By: anaesdoc : March 31st, 2014-02:00
Thanks, Nicolas, for your support! I wish the people at Omega HQ would listen. The watch is not actually mine, but I am looking to find one, preferably in steel. Have a good start in the new week, anaesdoc

In most cases (no pun intended!), I'd agree . . .

. . . but in this instance, I will be holding off judgement until trying it on later this year. Nominal size is one matter, but there are other aspects - height, proportion, angularity, dial design - that contribute to the presentation. Or, in other words...

I agree with your point, Art ...

pure numbers often do not tell the whole story. (The pun - "in most cases" - is great, even if not intended!) Nonetheless you may agree that even the flattest case and the shortest curved lugs cannot reduce the actual case size. On your wrist 40 mm should...
