well, Omega isn't a manufacture as far as I know
Jun 29, 2011,04:38 AM
No matter how good is the 85xx, fact is that it is subcontracted by Eta and Longines and the movement isn't really manufactured by Omega themselves. People will always stick to something of high quality, manufactured and which holds its value well over the time. Rolex invented the microstella back in 1957, Rolex still has an advance and a very solid experience with movement technology way much more than ETA.
It is not without reason why Rolex dominates the American market in terms of sales. In the past, Omega thanks to the norman morris corp was doing well but this era is gone, and it is not with a subpar quality after sales service or marketing hype strategy that Omega will have its prestige again.

My first opportunity to meet the LA Purists and I can attest to their gracious Southern California hospitality--an Omega extravaganza followed by dinner in a landmark "Rocker" restaurant. Good company, interesting conversation, LA ambience and good food. ...

By: scholiaste : June 30th, 2011-09:36
And even if it was golden age for Omega, looking back won't change anything. They have to look forward and they have some arguments to make great movements like 85xx or 93xx. Time will tell if they're as great as expected.
Fair views all around. I can see where George is coming from.
By: Ruckdee : June 30th, 2011-10:06
I think Art shares similar feelings as George although in a more forgiving manner. But obviously he is not blinded to the shortcomings of Omega if one can call it that. And it is exactly your attitude of looking forward that is needed to mend things. When...

You couldn't say 85xx or 93xx are beta testing calibers. Moreover durability needs time to be confirmed. Let's talk about that in 10 or 20 years. Perhaps they're even far better than older movements. This message has been edited by scholiaste on 2011-07-0...
